Nature Derma
Tan & patchy tone

Tan isn't dirt.
It's defence.

Your skin made that extra pigment on purpose, to shield itself from the sun. Scrubbing it will not remove it. Slowing the enzyme that makes it, and letting the skin turn over, will.

01 · The active

So what is kojic acid?

It comes from fermentation — the same family of processes that gives us sake and soy sauce. Its job on skin is specific: it gets in the way of tyrosinase, the enzyme melanocytes use to build melanin.

Slow the enzyme and the skin makes less new excess pigment. The tan already on the surface then leaves the way it always does — carried up and shed as cells turn over.

DOES
Slows tyrosinase, so less new excess pigment is built
SUITS
Tan lines at the hairline, jaw and neck; sun-triggered patchiness
02 · Why tan lingers

Indian skin defends itself well. That is exactly why tan stays.

More melanin means more built-in protection, and a faster, more generous pigment response. A morning in the sun produces more pigment than it would on lighter skin — and it takes longer to leave.

The face has it worst: it gets the sun every day, and the parts that catch the most light — forehead, nose, cheekbones, neck — darken unevenly, which is what reads as patchy tone.

03 · The pathway

Three steps make a tan. This works on two.

STEP 1Deep layer · melanocyte
Pigment gets made

UV switches on tyrosinase and the melanocyte builds melanin — more of it, faster, on deeper skin tones.

Face wash foam
ACTS HERE
Kojic acid slows tyrosinase, so less new excess pigment is built with each wash.
STEP 2Surface · dead cell layer
Pigmented cells pile up

Tanned cells rise to the surface and sit there until they shed. A thick, uneven layer of them looks dull and patchy.

ACTS HERE
Gluconolactone, a gentle polyhydroxy acid, loosens that top layer so it sheds evenly.
STEP 3Surface · ~4 weeks per layer
Fresh cells replace them

The cells underneath, made while the enzyme was slowed, carry less excess pigment. This is the part nothing can rush.

Natural Biome-Boost™
Allantoin is in the formula to soothe. Brightening actives can sensitise; a wash you use every day has to be comfortable first.
04 · Why a wash

Why put a brightener in a rinse-off?

Kojic acid is effective but can sensitise when left on skin all day. In a face wash the contact is brief and repeated — twice a day, every day — which is the gentle way to keep the enzyme slowed without the sting a leave-on can bring. It also means the whole face and neck get treated every time you wash, not just where you remember to apply.

a day — the whole face and neck treated at every wash, with no leave-on irritation.

06 · The honest timeline

What actually happens, and when

WEEK 1
Cleaner, smoother
The PHA shows first: skin feels smoother and looks a touch clearer. Tan is unchanged — judging it now tells you nothing.
WEEK 3–4
The first turnover
One layer has cycled through. Tan lines at the jaw and hairline start to soften.
WEEK 6–8
Tone evens
Enough layers have turned over for the face and neck to read closer to the same shade.
ONGOING
Holding it
Sun restarts the process every day. Sunscreen is what keeps the ground you have gained.
07 · How to use it

Morning and night, a full minute

01
Wet face and neck
Include the neck and the edges of the jaw — where tan lines live.
02
Massage for a minute
A coin-sized amount, worked in gently. Give the actives their contact time before rinsing.

03
Rinse, then protect
Pat dry. In the morning, sunscreen straight after.
Then sunscreen
NON-NEGOTIABLE
Sunscreen every morning. Without it the sun makes new pigment faster than this wash can slow it, and you will not see a result.
