Who this routine is not for.

A routine that claims to suit everyone suits no one especially well. Here is where this one fits, where it does not, and how to tell which you are.

01 · Not for you if

See a dermatologist instead when…

Some acne needs prescription treatment, and an over-the-counter routine will only delay it.

CYSTIC
Deep, painful, under-the-skin lumps that scar. This needs a doctor, not a serum.
RX
You are already on a retinoid, oral medication or isotretinoin. Adding acids on top compounds irritation — ask your dermatologist first.
REACTIVE
Eczema, rosacea or a barrier that stings at everything. Start with the wash alone and ask before adding the serum.
PREGNANT
Low-strength topical salicylic acid is generally considered acceptable, but check with your doctor.
02 · Built for

This is the routine for…

Oily or combination skin that gets blackheads, whiteheads and the ordinary red spots — on the T-zone, jaw, chin, back or shoulders — and the marks they leave behind. Skin that has been stripped by harsh washes and scrubs and needs to be treated rather than attacked.

03 · The pathway

Three steps make a breakout and its mark. Each product takes one.

STEP 1Surface · morning and night
Oil and debris build up

Sebum, sweat, sunscreen and the day's grime sit on the skin and drain into the pore.

Face wash foam
ACTS HERE
The 2% Salicylic Acid Face Wash lifts oil and debris twice a day, at skin's own pH.
STEP 2Inside the pore · overnight
Cells and oil form a plug

Dead cells clump on the pore wall and sebum binds them into a plug — the blackhead or whitehead that becomes a spot.

Serum texture
ACTS HERE
The 2% Salicylic Acid Serum stays on all night, dissolves into the sebum and loosens the plug.
STEP 3Healing spot · daylight
UV turns the spot into a mark

As a spot heals, the pigment cells beneath it are primed. UVA reaches them and they build excess melanin — the flat brown mark.

Sunscreen gel texture
ACTS HERE
The SPF 50 PA++++ aqua gel blocks that UV every morning, in a texture oily skin will actually wear.
Same active in both treatment steps on purpose: salicylic acid is the only exfoliating acid that is oil-soluble, so it is the only one that can follow sebum into the pore.
04 · If you are in between

Introduce it slowly

AM
Wash, then sunscreen
A minute with the face wash, rinse, pat dry. Two finger-lengths of sunscreen across face and neck.
Morning: wash, then sunscreen
PM
Wash, then serum
Cleanse the same way. On dry skin, two to three drops of serum across the breakout-prone zone, then a light moisturiser.
Night: wash, then serum
WK 1–2
Ease in
Serum on alternate nights for the first two weeks, then nightly if skin is comfortable.
Cleansing
DO NOT ADD
No scrubs, no second acid, no retinoid while you start. This is already a complete routine. Stacking more is how skin gets stripped and oilier.
