5 things to check on any
acne product label

Most acne products are judged by the front of the pack. The back is where the answers are.

01

Is the active named, with a percentage?

'Contains salicylic acid' tells you nothing. The strength decides whether it can work: 0.5% is a cleanser hint, 2% is the over-the-counter treatment strength.

Salicylic acid
THE FIX

Every Nature Derma label prints the active and its percentage — 2% salicylic acid in both the wash and the serum.

02

Is the exfoliant oil-soluble?

Glycolic and lactic acid are water-soluble; they work on the surface. Only salicylic acid dissolves into sebum and follows it down the pore to the plug.

Serum drop
THE FIX

Salicylic acid is the oil-soluble one. For clogged pores it is the acid to look for.

03

Is the wash pH balanced?

Skin sits slightly acidic. Alkaline soaps and strong foaming washes strip the barrier — the squeaky-clean feel — and oily skin answers by making more oil.

Face wash foam
THE FIX

Look for 'pH balanced' on a wash. Ours says it on the front because it matters that much.

04

Is there fragrance?

'Parfum' or 'fragrance' on an INCI list is the most common irritant in skincare, and irritated skin breaks out more. On acne products it has no job.

Cucumber extract
THE FIX

Fragrance free across the routine — the wash, the serum and the sunscreen.

05

Does the routine end in sunscreen?

Acids make skin more sun-sensitive, and UV is what turns a healing spot into a lasting mark. A treatment routine without SPF is only half a routine.

Applying sunscreen
THE FIX

The set ends in an SPF 50 PA++++ aqua gel made for oily skin, so it actually gets worn.

The routine

How it fits into a day

Morning: wash, then sunscreen
AM
Wash, then sunscreen
A minute with the face wash, rinse, pat dry. Two finger-lengths of sunscreen across face and neck.
Night: wash, then serum
PM
Wash, then serum
Cleanse the same way. On dry skin, two to three drops of serum across the breakout-prone zone, then a light moisturiser.
Cleansing
WK 1–2
Ease in
Serum on alternate nights for the first two weeks, then nightly if skin is comfortable.
